What are the 4 Cs of Peace making?

Peace-making can be explained in two ways. In the first one, it is the intervention or the conflict between prolonged disputes, and in the second one, it is simply making peace. Developing a Christlike character will help in making peace. Social psychologists have identified 4 strategies of peace-making. Let us remember those 4 Cs of Peacemaking.

Communication:

When two parties are in the middle of a conflict, peace can come through communication. Both the parties can negotiate or bargain and can arrive at a solution or can invite a mediator for the resolution. The third-party mediators can study all the disagreement points of both parties before implementing the settlement. If initiated by the third-party mediators, constructive communication can resolve conflicts in a much more peaceful manner. If the conflicting demands can be replaced with the underlying interests and goals of the parties, the resolution becomes easier. The third-party mediators will always try a win-win situation over a win-lose situation.

Contact:

According to some psychological theories, when people come in close contact with each other, their hostilities may reduce. According to the social psychologist Walter Stephan, disagreements can be seen between different races and the unequal status of people. When interracial contact is encouraged, it can be possible for individuals of equal status. The Jesus and Justice Conference can only be possible when people can decrease their prejudices and can come together in close contact.

Co-0peration:

When people of equal status are beneficial to each other, goals can be achieved by overcoming any threats or obstructions. The subgroups can be combined into a single group for goal attainment.

Conciliation:

Sometimes the suspicions and tensions rise so high that peaceful communication becomes impossible. These actions may reciprocate and can increase conflicts. Mediators can provide peace-making strategies by understanding the root cause of the conflicts.

Conclusion:

Conflicts are very common among different cultures, nations, and individuals. Peace-making is not an easy task when both parties are agitated. So, the intervention of the third-party mediators can be useful for resolving the conflicts and turning the situation into a win-win for all.
